“Capturing The Iconography of Us”: Paintings by Melanie Florio
Melanie began painting at 16-years-old under the tutelage of Lela Harty. Melanie went on to study at the Laguna College of Art and Design (LACD) where she concentrated on drawing and painting and received her MFA in 2007.
Melanie’s work celebrates modern life through a nostalgic lens, offering an open-ended subtle narrative. “I want my work to capture the everyday iconography of us,” she says. Melanie lives in Los Angeles with her husband and dogs where she enjoys careers as an artist and teacher.
