Mercer Vine’s Lisa Optican has sold 12305 5th Helena Drive in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood for over asking price at $7.25 million.

Built in 1929, the 2,624-square-foot hacienda “was personally searched out and bought” by Marilyn Monroe in 1962, according to Life Magazine. The home retains many of the design elements selected by Monroe, and offers the same privacy and tranquility that first attracted her to the property.

“When you walk the house and grounds, you’re immediately struck by its serenity and warmth,” said Optican. “It’s an absolute oasis in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles.”

At the end of a cul-de-sac behind the veil of a gate and canopy of trees, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits on the largest parcel of all of the Helena streets in Brentwood. The home’s peaceful location adds to its exclusivity while being perfectly situated near the West Side. The property also includes an expansive yard, pool, citrus grove and guest house.

As Monroe told a reporter during the same Life Magazine interview, which was conducted inside the home,

“Anybody who likes my house, I’m sure I’ll get along with.”

“Every owner who has called this property home has been drawn to the same character,” Optican added. “The property is romantic, intimate and private, yet is walking distance to shops and restaurants. The home has a sense of peace and calm that is often hard to find in Los Angeles.”
